Excel:
Community and Connectedness
My residents socialize not only with myself, but with each other. I give them opportunities to interact through events. Lastly, I make that if there isn't a welcoming space, that I see that it is removed.
Where am I From?
Born in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Lived in Gilbert, AZ.
This Year:
Bulletin Boards
When it comes to my bulletin boards, I tried my best to base them off of some things happening around the community. For instance, when I noticed there was an increase of alcohol incidents, I based a board around safe drinking.
Time Management
In the past, I have generally been a "do things as the due date arises" person. This semester I have been a lot better at doing things before the due date. I look to carry this into my next year being a CA with the bulletin boards, outreaches, and events.
Improve:
Learning and Development
When it comes to events, I want to make sure to bring in resources from outside of the residence hall.
My Major
I am currently majoring in Accounting, go math!
For Next Year:
Overall as a Returner
This year I had an amazing group of 2nd/3rd years and McConnell returners who helped me grow not only as an RA, but as a person. They are an extremely supportive group of individuals who I look up to and hope to be like next year as a returner.
Bulletin Board
I want to continue making bulletin boards to coincide with what is happening within the community. As well as putting more effort into making them with an overall theme.
We create a welcoming and vibrant campus living experience where students connect, explore, and belong.
What is the HRL mission statement?
My Hobbies!
I love to spend my time hanging out with my friends, playing video games, cooking/going out to eat.
For Next Year:
On-Call
Being on-call for the first time was definitely nerve racking and stressful. Having my on-call partner be a second year RA really made things easier. They were bale to "take the reins" while also teaching me. I look to help be a good example for next years CAs.
Resident Interaction
I want to continue to be a CA that residents can go to in time of need. That was something that was very impactful for me my freshman year, which I want to carry on.
What the Mission Statement Means to Me
When it comes to my residents, I always want to create a welcoming experience for my residents. If there is a first generation college student who is either scared or nervous for college, I want to make that easier for them.
Places I Want to Go!
Oregon
Iceland
England
This Year:
Resident Engagement
I was able to engage with my residents a lot by keeping my door open. This let them know that I was someone they could go to in times of need. A resident of mine was struggling in a class so I took the time to tutor them so they know that they are supported.
Staff
One thing I want to help create next year is a good staff. I look to carry on a supportive, caring, and welcoming staff next year.
