You go to a new church in college and the pastor says that our behaviors can make us miss heaven. Is this pastor correct or incorrect? And why?
This pastor is WOEFULLY INCORRECT.
We are saved once and for all through the blood of Jesus Christ by placing faith in Him.
”For by GRACE, you have been saved through faith. NOT OF WORKS, lest anyone should boast” - Ephesians 2:8-9
TRUE OR FALSE.
The Holy Spirit convicts us believers of our sins
The Holy Spirit doesn’t remember our sins (Hebrews 10:13) so how can he convict us of them? The Holy Spirit convicts us believers of our righteousness in Christ (John 16:14)
You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you
Jesus
Who was the individual that led the Israelites to victory over the Midianites?
Gideon
What is 1 John 4:17? (Either the entire verse or part of the verse is fine)
“…as He is, so are we in this world”
”Love has been perfected such that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, that as He is, so are we in this world”
What are the five signs that Jesus said believers can do in Mark 16?
Cast out demons, speak in tongues, take up serpents, drink any deadly thing and it doesn’t hurt, lay hands on the such and they get healed
The first few verses of Hebrews tells us:
“Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son.… The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God…”
What do these verses tell us SPECIFICALLY about God’s nature and how we’re supposed to see Him?
(HINT: The Book of Hebrews was written to JEWS!!)
It tells us that our understanding of God MUST come via Christ and Christ ONLY.
If we ask ourselves if God “does something,” we then look if Jesus Christ did that “something.” If He didn’t, then God doesn’t do it.
The true nature of God was seen in Jesus Christ!
“For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries”
A) Jesus
B) Peter
C) David
D) Paul
D) Paul
Name the first three kings of Israel and Judah IN ORDER
What is Romans 8:1?
“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus” (NIV, ESV, etc.)
”There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk after the flesh but after the spirit” (NKJV and KJV)
Romans 6:1 asks that as Christians, “shall we sin such that grace may abound?”
Why is the answer to that question “no”? (USE ROMANS 6 FOR YOUR ANSWER)
It is “no” because now that we are in Christ… we are DEAD to sin. Sin is not our true nature because we are in the spirit.
As Christ is, so are WE IN THIS WORLD
“The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD's; But the earth He has given to the children of men.” - Psalm 115:16
What does this verse mean in terms of God’s control over the things that happen and in our lives?
MAN is responsible for what happens on the earth… not God. For example, people blame God for suffering but don’t understand that God is GOOD only. He is NOT the author of evil.
In terms of our own lives, our CHOICES control the outcome of our lives. God is not a puppeteer controlling every single step that we take. He has given us the power, grace, and ability to do well. It is up to us to see that through.
You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied
David
Which one of David’s sons rebelled against him to try to take the kingdom away from him?
Absalom
What verse does Jesus say that we shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon us?
Acts 1:8
In class we learned about the story about Jesus and the adulterous woman that the Pharisees wanted to stone. He said to her “neither do I condemn you.”
What is so important about what He said to her
Jesus (The one Who never sinned) told someone who was sinning that He doesn’t condemn her for her mistakes.
It tells us that we should not be in a place to condemn others for their mistakes. And it also tells us that God doesn’t condemn us because He doesn’t remember our sins any more
Jesus said that “if we don’t forgive, that God would not forgive us” (Matthew 6:14-15)
Paul said that, “God forgives us based on the riches of His grace“ (Ephesians 1:6)
Why would Jesus say that we have to earn forgiveness based on our works but Paul said that forgiveness is already available based on God’s grace?
Jesus hadn’t died and risen from the dead so that law (Old Covenant) was still intact
Jesus preached the law such that we would appreciate how much we need grace.
Paul preached the New Covenant message of grace. The message that everything we receive comes from Christ thanks to GOD’S GOODNESS, not our goodness
Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand,
Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.

"Come now, and let us reason together,"
Says the LORD,
