Which Book of Mormon prophet and warrior is found standing atop LDS temples throughout the world?

Golden Moroni statues with trumpet in hand stand atop over 100 LDS temples throughout the world. The angel Moroni is believed to be the guardian of the golden plates. In life he was the last author to write on the plates. In death, he was entrusted to guard the plates. On September 21, 1823 he appeared to the young boy Joseph Smith for the very first time. The Angel Moroni tutored Joseph Smith in his youth and when he was deemed ready showed him the location of the buried plates. Moroni had buried the golden plates before he died following a great battle that killed all of his kinspeople.
