Magnit partners with Apple to support their contingent workforce needs. I'm reaching out to you because Apple (Marcom) has indicated that they are interested in you for a W2 Contractor position.

CSC let's you know Apple is passing on a candidate. What do you do?

Inform the candidate and move them to the completed tab on the tracker.

How often do Contractors get paid?

Every week on Friday (as long as they submit a timecard!)

Am I eligible for Overtime?

Yes! As a non-exempt hourly employee, your are eligible for OT based on state law. You will need to get manager pre-approval prior to working any OT.

What is the SLA for scheduling an SA once receiving the candidate's availability?

2 business hours, however it's preferable to schedule WHILE on the phone with the candidate if possible.

How do I submit time?

You will enter in a timecard every week in Magnit VMS. This is must be entered in prior to 11:59pm each week and payment will be processed for the following Friday. 

PRO TIP: It's recommended that contractors submit their timecard on Friday when they log off for the weekend!

Do I get holidays?

Unfortunately Apple holidays are unpaid, unless you receive special permission to work the holiday in advance. The Apple Holiday schedule is reviewed during our New Hire Orientation

I am not sure about the rate because I have questions about the position and duties. Let's schedule the interview and continue the process and I will decide on a rate later.

Candidate says they are looking for a rate higher than the approved range. What do you say?

Unfortunately this role's approved rate range is $X-$X. Are you willing to move forward within that range?

What's the SLA for emailing a candidate after a CSC adds them to the P+ tracker?

Do I get PTO? What about Sick time?

PTO is not offered to contractors. If they would like to take time off, they can do so (with the proper approvals) but it would be unpaid.

Sick time is accrued (and paid) based on state law. Some states may have specific usage caps and limitations on when it can be used. Workers can email us with their specific state and we can provide guidance.

True/False: If there's a performance issue, Apple can directly address with the worker and terminate when necessary

FALSE! The Employer of Record is responsible for having these conversations with their employees. Apple MUST go through Magnit to avoid co-employment risks.

Can I join as a 1099/IC?

This role is currently being offered as a W2 relationship. I can ask if there's an opportunity to go 1099, but let's continue the conversation assuming a W2 employment set up.

Can you provide some details surrounding your previous engagement? We will check with the appropriate contacts to see if that's an option, but in the case that it isn't, let's continue our conversation so that you have all of the pertinent information. Once I hear back, I'll let you know if you're able to continue through your last agency.

If a candidate does not respond to the initial outreach email, what should you do?

Follow up every other day for at least three attempts (and keep your CSC informed!)

Does Magnit offer benefits?

Yes! We offer Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits all through Cigna. We also offer 401k through Principal should you choose to enroll.

It's important to note that you become eligible for benefits starting the 1st of the month AFTER 30 full days of employment. You may opt in to the 401k earlier if you want. Our benefits team will reach out to you a few weeks before you become eligible to provide more information.

Do I have to use my own laptop?

Apple will be shipping you a laptop prior to your first day to use while on assignment. It's important to note that this device MUST be returned immediately at the end of your assignment.

I know the approved max is $X, but can Magnit do anything to close the gap so I can get $Y?

Unfortunately we cannot. The approved range has been fully vetted by both Apple and Magnit and remains firm.

What reminders should you give the candidate prior to hanging up the call?

-reminder to apply to the position in Direct Source (this allows Apple to connect their profile to the opening on the platform)

Candidate provides their location. What do you do next?

Get the correct narrowed down range from the CSC, confirm if the worker is aligned (try to get a specific number they are looking for) then confirm back with the CSC.

Can I negotiate my rate later?

Unfortunately mid-assignment increases are not allowed.
