5 bobs and submerge face for 5 seconds
Explain proper head position for both front and back float.
Front float head is down, looking at the floor, with chin to chest. Back float head is back, looking at the ceiling, with ears in the water.
Explain rings
Have children get either 1 or 2 rings. Throw rings on opposite side of pool where children can still stand. Children do front kicks to the rings. Instructor walks to next to the children as they kick. Optional: have children do front or back kicks back to the wall where they started.
Explain front crawl and back crawl arms.
Front crawl: straight tag arms. Arms must touch leg and ear as they go in big circles.
Back crawl: straight opposite arms. Arms must touch leg and ear as they go in big circles.
Explain sub policies.
Must give at least 3 days notice of day out. Must find own sub, unless you have done everything you can. Can only miss 1 shift each session.

Explain how to how push off correctly for front and back skills.
Front: arms in streamline, bend at the waist, face in the water, one leg on the wall and push.
Back: hands and feet on the wall, head back with ears in the water, let go of wall, then push off with feet, but don't push too hard.
Explain kneeling dive.
One foot on the edge of pool, other foot under the kid. Both legs at 90 degrees (don't have kid sitting on their back leg). Back foot should have toes under them, not top of foot on the floor. Bend at waist, lean forward and push with back legs first.
What do you do when running late?

Explain level 2 bobs
Rhythmic bobs. Child goes under water, breaths out, comes up, breaths in.
Have one arm above their knees and one arm by their ankles to lock their legs in between you arms.
Explain rotary breathing in less than 5 words.
Rotate, don't lift.
Explain employee referral program.
Current employee must work here for 4 sessions in a row, and referred employee must work here for 4 sessions in a row. Both employees must be currently working and in good standing. The referring employee receives $50 gift card for every referred employee.
Explain difference between level 1 and level 2 floats
Level 1 floats are supported, meaning held the entire time. Proper technique is not required, but should be encouraged.
Level 2 floats are completely independent. Children must get into them, hold them for 5 seconds, and get out of them with no physical assistance from the instructor.
How do you identify a natural sinker?
The child is doing everything correctly, but legs continue to sink towards bottoms. Have the child attempt a back glide to see if they stay up better with movement.
Explain floating and turning over.
Child starts in front float, hold for 3-5 seconds. Child flips into back float without touching floor, and holds for 3-5 seconds. Child flips back onto front without touching the floor, and holds for 3-5 seconds.
Name all extra skills in level 5.
Standing dive, swimming and turning over, rings in deep water, basic lifesaving skills.
Name 5 things from the daily cleaning checklist.
mop, vacuum, clean windows, wipe down bathrooms, wipe down front desk, check chem, clean pool deck, pick up lost and found, clean skimmers, flip the sign, turn lights on/off, lock/unlock the door.
What do you do when children are crying and refusing to get in?
Ask parents if you can take them, hold on hip, offer toys or games, ask desk if you need help. Always keep that child with you and keep class together. Do not focus only on crying kid.
Explain lesson plan.
Have all children do 10 bobs during first few minutes. Do one side of floats until class is half way over. Switch to practice floats on the other side until class has a few minutes left. During last few minutes, have the children practice holding breath for 10 seconds, kicking on noodles, or assisted pop ins.
Explain passing front and back kicks
Small, fast kicks, with straight legs and pointed feet. Proper head and arm position.
Explain basic lifesaving skills.
Reach, throw, don't go.
Explain Michelle and Rebecca's time and space.
Only call or text between 8am-9pm. Avoid texting or calling on their days off (they each only have 1) unless the school is on fire or someone is dying. Not allowed in office unless you have permission or are currently working desk (but if currently working desk, then you should be at the front desk). Do not touch anything that does not belong to you.
