100
These are the four branches of Earth Science. They all have extremely easy names to remember and are based off of 3 of the 4 natural elements consisting of Earth, Wind, Fire, Water.
What are Geology, Oceanography, Meteorology, and Astronomy?
100
This type of movement is "more than meets the eye." It can also be like the place where Mexicans jump the border into good ol' Merca. It also describes where two plates slide past each other. (Not kitchen plates)
What is a transform boundary?
100
A state of mind where you have intense concentration. A lot of people have trouble retaining this state of mind. Once you are in this state of mind however, knowledge and other skills are attained easily. This also refers to the point under the surface of the Earth where plates fault.
What is focus?
100
having a regular geometric shapes
What is a crystal
200
This object is used in many things. For example, it is used in wagon wheels. It helps things spin. It is commonly referred to as the imaginary line which the Earth spins upon.
What is axis.
200
This is the outermost part of Earth that is submerged under water. Think of it like that delicious edge of a slice of bread that has been dunked under water for the rest of its existence.
What is oceanic crust?
200
This is a flaming hoop that is used in daredevil tricks and stunts. It is especially dangerous and some performers even juggle small versions of these. It also refers to the region around the Pacific ocean where the majority of Earth's seismic and volcanic activity takes place. It is also a song by Johnny Cash.
What is The Ring of Fire?
200
magma which erupts onto Earth's surface and begins to cool.
What is lava
200
the reflectivity of a mineral
What is luster
300
This is the outermost layer of a slice of bread. It is formed when the dough cooks the outermost edge cooks more than the inside thus forming a darker spot with a different texture. It is also the outer edge of a pizza where it is devoid of sauce, cheese, and other such nonsense. It also refers to the rocky, outer edge of Earth where it is mostly submerged under water.
What is crust?
300
This is the theory that the Earth's continents have drifted apart throughout time. This phenomenon was caused by a certain rodent a really long time ago as depicted in a historical video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zocutif0cQY
What is continental drift?
300
The is the amount of damage caused by an earthquake.
What is intensity?
300
opening where magma erupts onto surface
What is vent
300
color of mineral in powdered form
What is streak
400
This is a math term where two lines move on the same plane yet never intersect. This term is used mostly in the subject of Geometry. It also refers to imaginary lines that run horizontally across the Earth's surface.
What are parallels?
400
This is the common ground we stand and walk on. Think of this as the outermost edge of a slice of bread that remains dry throughout its existence.
What is continental crust?
400
This term is used to describe a vector. Vector uses the word in te Disney film "Despicable Me." It is aso the measure of nergy in seismic waves.
What is magnitude?
400
any structure that moves magma to surface.
What is a volcano
400
when a mineral breaks along smooth, flat surfaces
What is cleavage
500
This is a term used to describe when one group of people want freedom from another group of people and it ends in violence. A good example of this is when good ol' 'Merca gained their independence from Great Britain through a war. This term is also used as the orbit of Earth around the Sun.
What is a revolution?
500
A chain of volcanic islands that forms at a subduction zone. A good example of this is an arc. An arc is an architectural design made by the Romans. It is one of the strongest structures made by ancient man.
What is an island arc?
500
A maasive wave created by an earthquake on ocean floor.
What is a tsunami.
