A dragon with 5 heads and 3 tails was guarding a tower. A knight was sent to slay it. However, this dragon is no ordinary dragon! If you cut off one head two will immediately grow back. If two heads are cut off at the same time, one tail grows in its place. If one tail is cut off two will grow back, and if two tails are cut off no new heads or tails will grow. If you cut off more than two tails or two heads at a time you can not slay the dragon. What is the least number of chops the knight has to chop to slay the dragon?

Lets first cut of all the heads. It will take 4 chops (2 heads, 2 heads, 1 head, 2 heads). You now have 6 tails, 0 heads. Then cut all the tails by 2. It will take 3 chops. 4 + 3 = 7.

The knight has to chop the dragon 7 times.
