What is a theme and how must you construct one?
The theme is the main idea the writer of the poem or story wants the reader to understand and remember. One word—love, for example—may be a topic; but it cannot be a theme. Theme=topic + message A theme is a statement about a topic, for example: Love makes it possible for people to conquer difficult situations.

Open response is 1-3 paragraphs, occurs in the reading comprehension section of the test, and uses QUOTES from the passage as evidence. The long composition is its own part of the test, it is a 5 paragraph essay that uses MOBAThBlue in the intro paragraph, and can be about any appropriate book of choice. My evidence will be through examples, since I do not have the text to quote.
