The mass of sugar in Box A is 1 kg 800 g. The mass of sugar in Box K is 4 kg 200 g. Some sugar was poured into Box A from Box K. The mass of sugar in both boxes became the same after the sugar was poured. How much sugar was poured from Box K into Box A? Show your work and write you answer below.

1 kg 200 g was poured from Box K into Box A. First, I converted both boxes into grams. Then, I added Box A and Box K together.

1,800g + 4,200 g = 6,000 g

Then, I converted it back to kg and divided by two to figure out the equal amount of sugar.

6,000 g = 6 kg. 6 kg divided by 2 = 3 kg

Finally, I subtracted Box A's original weight to see how much was poured from Box K. I converted to grams to do the subtraction and then converted back to kg and g for my final answer.

3 kg - 1 kg 800 g = 3,000 g - 1,800 g = 1,200 g

1,200 g = 1 kg 200 g
