Why is it important to have a standard unit?
So we can all get accurate answers and compare them using the same units. Scientists can compare research. We can arrive at the correct answer when measuring length, mass, volume, capacity, and temperature.

What is the difference between length and width?
Length is usually the longer side of an object or how tall something is. Width is usually the shorter side of an object or how wide it is.
500
Describe, in detail, the steps you need to properly weigh an object.
First, set the balance beam on the fulcrum and place the cups on either side of the balance beam. Second, put the object in one of the cups to be weighed. Next, slowly add gram pieces in the opposite cup until the cups are equal. Finally, take the gram pieces out of the cup to add up how many grams are in the cup.
500
What is the difference between volume and capacity?
Volume is the amount of liquid up to a specific line or point. Capacity is the amount of liquid a container can hold when it is FULL.
500
