What is the criteria for a dog to donate blood?

·>25kg (based on lean mass)

·Age 1-8 years of age

·Has not had a blood transfusion

·Full blood count (FBC), Chemistry, Heartworm tested – rechecked annually

·PCV done prior should be 35%

·Coagulation factors normal – rechecked annually

Blood typed if possible

·Good temperament

·Current vaccination, deworming, heartworm

·Not donated blood within the last 6-8weeks
