Something that people do to celebrate something--this shouldn't be done after people share at a meeting.
What is clapping?
A person who will help you work through the 12 steps; you choose this person based on their clean time/personal story/etc.
What is a sponsor?
This rule talks about turning off something in particular upon entering a meeting, not just putting it on vibrate
What is a cell phone?
This rule refers to not bringing drugs or alcohol to a meeting
What is "leave drugs/alcohol at the door"?
This is given at the beginning of a meeting; usually about 2-3 minutes
What is a time limit?
When someone really agrees with something, they yell out these phrases. These should not be yelled out while someone is sharing.
What is "AMEN," "PERIOD," etc.?
When members of a 12 step meeting help with making coffee, setting up and putting away chairs, etc.
What is service work?
When others whisper and talk to each other while someone is sharing
What are side conversations?
How long someone has to be clean/sober to share during a 12 step meeting
What is 24 hours?
This is also given at a the beginning of a meeting so that people sharing know what to share about
What is a topic?
At AA meetings, people introduce themselves as alcoholics and use the term "sober." At NA meetings, people introduce themselves as addicts and use the term "clean."
What is properly introducing yourself/proper terminology?
The ability to meet others who are in recovery and create friendships with them

What is anonymity?
This rule talks about getting your coffee and smoking your last cigarette before the meeting starts, instead of doing it in the middle of the meeting

This is what you use instead of sharing using words like "us" and "we"
What is using "I" statements?
This is when people share too many details about negative past experiences, or when someone is talking about the "good times" when they were using
