The Viking Age, which began in 793AD and ended in 1066AD, was the time when Scandinavian Norsemen raided, traded, colonized, and conquered parts of Europe, Iceland, Greenland, Russia, and North America. Eric the Red and Leif Eriksson went "a-Viking" during this time.
