What is a phobia? (Looking for a longer definition than a fear) 

An irrational, illogical fear that has a powerful intrusive effect on a person's life – Often people will say they have a phobia of things like snakes when in fact they really just hate them and feel creeped out by them. That’s actually pretty normal and, while squeamish, a person can control their response around the snake. Someone with a phobia has a hard time controlling the, often extreme, mental, and physical reactions they experience when they are around their phobia.
