What is depression?

Characterized by a persistent low mood, a lack of positive affect, and a loss of interest in usually pleasurable activities (anhedonia) that is different from the patient's usual self and causes significant distress or impairment for ≥ 2 weeks.

What is anxiety?

  • Characterized by chronic, unfocused, excessive worry and stress associated with clinically significant distress and functional impairment, often accompanied by insomnia, restlessness, muscle tension, and fatigue.
