What is an inside joke?

It is a situation or story that you experienced with another person or group of people.  An inside joke occurs when you are talking about the story/experience, and some of the people you are talking to don't understand, because they did not share in the experience with you.

Why is it important to consider a person's reputation when looking for new friends?

Because your reputation is what people think about you.  If you choose to be friends with someone who has a poor reputation, chances are that you will also get the same kind of reputation, even if you don't participate in the same type of behavior.
