Completely revolves around Religion, most people were poor peasants or serfs living under the system of manorialism/feudalism. Monarchs divided their land into fiefs and had nobles "look after them" for them. Kind of a dark time with limited advancements in the arts, sciences, tech etc. Everyone's restricted to the little plot they were born on
