We use these supplies every day in ELA and you are expected to have these 7 things DAILY.

What is a charged Chromebook, charger, ELA notebook, pencil, highlighter, independent reading book, and folder for handouts. We occasionally use glue sticks, colored pencils & markers.

Once you get to the classroom door you should...

What is...wait at the door for the teacher to greet you. Say hello and come in quietly to your seat. Check the board to see what supplies you will need for the day. Get them out.

If you have a paper assignment to turn in, you should turn it in here...

What is the class turn in bin in back of room. If it is a late assignment, make sure you tell Ms. Gates that you're turning it in.

After asking 3 people first, wait until independent work time, ask the teacher kindly. Leave your ID badge on the teachers desk and you may get it back after you return the supplies.

The class starts when...

What is when you begin your warm up silently. This is not time to catch up with friends. That is done in the hallway during passing periods. Once you enter the classroom, it is time to learn.

When turning in assignments on Schoology, you need to do this last thing...

What is click submit on Schoology, so the teacher knows when you finished!

If you need to go to the restroom because it is an emergency, what three things should you do?

What is: 1. Wait until attendance has been taken (first 10 min of class) 2. Ask teacher for permission when she is not teaching directly. 3. Once approved, make a pass in MyHomework.

When your pencil breaks and you need to sharpen it you should do this...

Go to the sharpener and sharpen it, but only when the teacher is not directly teach. You do not need to ask the teacher if you can sharpen your pencil.

You are released from class when...

What is when the teacher dismisses you. You should pack up, clean up your trash, push in your chair, then wait to be released from the teacher, not the bell.

When absent you should do this to get caught up...

What is check the class slides on Schoology. Everything we do each day is on the slides. The assignments will also be posted in there. IF it is a paper assignment, you can find those in the grey Absent bin near Ms. Gates desk. It is YOUR responsibility to turn in assignments, not the teacher's.

Tutoring is on Tuesdays 7:30-8:00 AM, and Wednesdays 7:30-8 AM & 3:50-4:30 PM and will be used for...

What is making up missed work and/or getting extra help on assignments. Please make sure you are picked up by 4:30 PM in the front of the school. Please make sure you are at the front office doors or 8th grade doors in the front of school no later than 7:30 AM to be let in by the teacher.

This is the best time to go to the restroom and get water.

What is during the passing period before class starts. Do not come to class to set your stuff down then go to the restroom. Go directly to the restroom first.

If you need a bandaid or tissue, you should do this...

Get up and go get what you need. Throw the trash in the trash can, and use hand sanitizer. Bandaids are in a box in back of room.

You should make sure to do this before you leave ELA. 

What is stack reading books neatly on the shelf, with spines facing outward. Return any borrowed supplies and retrieve your ID from the teacher's desk. Push in chair, and leave your area cleaner than when you came in. 2nd period - take chairs down and 7th period - stack chairs for the custodians.

If you do not turn in an assignment due to being absent or just forgot, it will look like this in the grade book...

What is "M" for missing = zero. You will have 5 days from when it is assigned to turn in the assignment. IF you earn a grade less than a "75" you will have 5 days to redo the assignment to bring it up to a "75."

For PIE tutoring you must do these 3 things...

What is be on-time, go to the teacher you signed up for, use the PIE time for tutoring on specific skills only. This is not a time to hang out with friends and play games on your Chromebook.
