Explain how dissolving occurs
The two types of particles must be attracted to each other (L2).
The particles have positive and negatives charges that attract other charges. Example: the negative oxygen on water, attracts the positive sodium on salt. The positive hydrogen attracts the negative chloride from salt.
What is viscosity?
What is...a fluid's resistance to flow (the thickness or thinness of a liquid)
If an object floats, is it more or less dense than the liquid?
What is less dense
How does particle shape affect the viscosity of a liquid?
The more complex the particle shape, the more the particles get caught on each other. This increases friction, which increases viscosity.
How does adding more solute to a solution affect the solution's density?
What is increase the density
What state of matter has a indefinite volume and an indefinite shape?
What is a gas
What was Archimedes able to determine when he placed a crown in water?
What is the volume of the crown
A fluid travels 30cm in 80 seconds. What is the flow rate?
0.375 cm/sec
How are submarines able to float and sink?
What is by removing and adding air/water in the hulls
Sort solids, liquids, and gases as compressible or in-compressible.
In-compressible: solids, liquids
Compressible: gases
