work hard, clean up in the classroom, offer to help pick up, say thank you, etc.
You can only invite 2 friends to your birthday party. You come into your classroom and there are like 10 other students around. Publicly you announce the 2 students you want to come and say, "No one else can come."
Handle this conversation privately. Perhaps communicate about this outside of school.

There are many ways to cheer up a friend.
In gym class, your teacher says please don't go in the closet. You see a special ball in there you'd like to play with. He turns his back and you wonder if you could just grab it quickly......

When you arrive at a birthday party, the whole group is playing outside. You see that the person having the party has a cool video game you really like. You go and sit in the living room all by yourself and start to play this game.
The expected social behavior would be to stay with the group and do the activities the group is doing.
