Founding
Alpha Kappa Psi was founded on October 5, 1904 at New York University.
Case Competition
-Funded by The Alpha Kappa Psi Foundation.
-At each event, teams compete and the top three teams are awarded scholarships. Through the Case Competition, students are introduced to the realities of decision making—including incomplete information, time constraints and conflicting goals—giving them first-hand experience in analyzing business situations.

Meeting Requirements
Required to hold a minimum of two business meetings each month of the academic year.
Student members can miss up to three meetings per semester or two per quarter.
Not adhering to attendance rules set by the local chapter can result in suspension from membership.

Convention
Held every other summer, the Convention consists of two main parts—the Chapter Congress and the College of Leadership. The Chapter Congress is made up of one delegate from each student and alumni chapter in good standing. These delegates meet in committees to review and discuss proposed changes to the Constitution and Statutory Code, and vote upon legislation and elect the fraternity president and executive vice president during the Chapter Congress meeting.
The last Convention was held in 2024 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The Management Team
The Management Team is the volunteer operational arm of the organization. It is composed of the fraternity president, executive vice president, four area vice presidents and 16 regional directors.
The Management Team is charged with the responsibility of servicing the chapters of the fraternity within the guidelines of policies and procedures set forth by the board of directors.
Hazing Policy
Prohibits:
•Condoning or conducting hazing activities
•Pre-initiation activities on the day or evening prior to the day of Court of Honor or Ritual Initiation that would cause persons to be physically or mentally fatigued
•Verbal abuse of an individual, including shouting, screaming and the use of profanity

The Academy

Interactive group sessions are complemented by small group discussions led by AKPsi facilitators and successful business leaders
Fraternal Dues
•$60
•provide for all services rendered to members and chapters
•the general administration of the fraternity and the salaries of employees therein
•the publishing and sending of the Diary of Alpha Kappa Psi to undergraduate members
•some expenses related to regional and fraternity conferences
•payable semi-annually to the Heritage Center through the local chapters by October 15 and February 15 of each year until a member graduates or otherwise leaves school
The Fraternity Board of Directors
-Composed of nine alumni members elected by the Chapter Congress
-The board in turn elects its officers who are the chairman, vice chairman, treasurer and secretary.
-Their responsibility is to set policies and procedures that will guide the fraternity into the future.
-It acts as the supreme governing body of the fraternity between meetings of the Chapter Congress.
-It is charged with approving the fraternity budget, setting annual goals of the fraternity, overseeing the performance of the CEO and, most importantly, strategic planning.
-The board is the “big picture” strategic thinker of the organization much like the board of a corporation. The chairman of the board is the highest-ranking volunteer in the fraternity.
Alcohol & Drug Policy
Prohibits:
•No alcoholic beverages may be purchased using chapter, pledge class or fraternity funds; including slush funds
•No alcohol shall be present at any pledge program
•No “drinking games” shall be permitted
•No member or pledge shall purchase alcohol for a minor
•No chapter may co-sponsor an event with a brewery, vineyard, distillery, alcohol distributor or tavern at which alcohol is given away, sold, or otherwise provided to those present
•The possession or use of a common source container at events or gatherings
•All alcohol, regardless of age of attendees, at pledge program events or gatherings
•The possession, sale or use of illegal drugs or controlled substances

Elevate
Held in multiple cities across the country, Elevate is an educational program to lift minds to a new level. Focusing on professional skill building at the individual level, participants have the opportunity to network with other chapters and business professionals. Attendees participate in a curriculum centered on the values of principled business leadership and the values of AKPsi.
