Describe what it was like the in the trenches?
To fight in the trenches was to understand that you may die at any moment it wasnt only the enemy that could kill you when you lived in the trenches but also the conditions of that trench. The trenches could be very muddy and smelly. There were many dead bodies buried nearby and the latrines (toilets) sometimes overflowed into the trenches. Millions of rats infested the trenches and some grew as big as cats. There was also a big problem with lice that tormented the soldiers on a daily basis.

Social darwinism: “The weak were diminished as the strong grew in power, survival of the fittest natural” The Europeans were able to have more developed weapons due to the fact that they were able to find resources within Europe and use them to make themselves stronger. While Africans were not yet industrialized, therefore, they became the weak and were not able to fight against the colonization of European countries.
