Observational Skills
An observation based on the observer's subjective interpretation of what they see, hear, smell, taste, or feel.
What is a qualitative observation?
A variable that is manipulated or changed by someone in an experiment
What is an independent variable?
Data that measures values or counts and are expressed as numbers.
What is quantitative data?
The prediction that a scientist make who is undertaking the experiment.
What is the a hypothesis?
A way to visually represent data
What is a graph?
A visual representation that shows a relationship between two variables which are numerical in nature
What does a line graph show?
Obtained by adding up all the numbers then dividing by the size of the data set
What is the mean of a data set?
The variable that is being measured or tested in an experiment.
What is a dependent variable?
Testing the validity of results to ensure that they are no fluke or a random occurrences.
What is repetition?
A variable that is held constant in an experiment
What is a controlled variable?
By repeating the experiment under the same conditions.
How do you ensure reliability in an experiment?
The unchanged group to which comparisons are made in an experiment.
