Learning Curves
Type of learning curve in which the amount of learning or skill level increases rapidly at first & then the rate of improvement slows.
What is decreasing returns?
ADDIE step where objectives are assessed, collected data is analyzed to influence future training & analyze design & delivery.
What is evaluation?
In this level of Bloom's Taxonomy, the learner would be able to respond to new situations & determine trouble-shooting techniques & solutions.
What is synthesis?
An appraisal tool that provides both positive & negative actions for an entire rating period. Limitations: defined or identified differently by each supervisor & cataloguing these incidents for each employee on a daily or weekly basis may be time consuming.
What are critical incidents?
Type of learning curve in which progress is initially slow because basics are being learned but then performance takes off after the initial learning phase.
What is increasing returns?
Compose goals & objectives, apply Blooms taxonomy, define the target audience & select an instructional designer phase
What is design?
In this level of of Bloom's Taxonomy, the learner translates or interprets information.
What is comprehension
An appraisal tool used frequently by managers to appraise employees, where employees help set objectives for themselves defining what they intend to achieve within specified time period, based on overall goals & objectives for organization.
What is management by objectives (MBO)?
Appraiser is given list of statements or words & checks the items on the list that describe the characteristics & performance of an employee. Limited by interpretation of words or statements by each appraiser.
What is checklist?
Type of learning curve in which learning occurs in a series of increasing or decreasing returns; usually seen when an employee is attempting to learn a difficult task that also requires specific insight.
What is S curve?
Phase of ADDIE model in which data is collected to identify gaps between actual & desired organizational performance.
What is assessment?
In this level of Bloom's Taxonomy, the learner understands information to the level of being able to break it down & explain how it fits together.
What is analysis?
This appraisal tool is designed to combat problems of category rating by describing examples of desirable or undesirable behavior.
What is behaviorally anchored rating scale (BARS)?
Type of learning curve in which learning is fast at first but then flattens out with no apparent progress.
What is plateau curve?
Phase of ADDIE model in which the program is delivered to target audience & is most visible phase.
What is implementation?
In this level of Bloom's Taxonomy, the learner would be able to use learned information in new situation.
What is application?
Appraisal rater error where appraiser is reluctant to give high ratings.
What is strictness?
These graphically depict individual rates of learning over time, with learning proficiency indicated vertically & elapsed time indicated horizontally & may include multiple learning curves.

What is development?
In this level of Bloom's Taxonomy, the learner is in the highest level of learning because it allows the learner to make judgments.
What is evaluation?
Appraisal rater error where appraiser who doesn't want to give low scores.
What is leniency?
Each of the employees is paired with every other employee & compared, one at a time, using same scale for performance. Limitation: time required to evaluate each possible pair of employees.
