Why is email address required for Automatic Payments - Card & not for Automatic Payments - EFT?

FAQ: Biggest reason is when customers are up for renewal.

  • Automatic Payments - EFT: EFT payment is sent to bank on due date, & renewal goes in force on effective date. Should EFT payment be returned, we send cancel notice to customer for amount due. There is no risk to renewal not going in force.
  • Automatic Payments - Card: It's different at renewal. Since we get authorization real-time, when renewal payment is sent to bank on due date & it declines, policy lapses/expires, & customer has no coverage. We need to be able to notify customer ASAP via email that their card was declined so they know replacement payment is needed to avoid lapse in coverage.
