1. Most likely will be an extended feeding plan as the baby most likely will not feed consistently at the breast until about 2-3 weeks after due date.
2. Due to long term status, the baby may take a bottle instead of another alternative feeding method.
3. Follow-up should be very carefully monitored. Need to plan for more visits to the ped's office and OPC.
4. Even more TLC needed for parents as this can take several weeks.
This alternative feeding method is helpful to teach the baby how to coordinate sucking and swallowing.
