Monique is doing a case study. Levi, 20 M, living w/ family in a second story home who already has a broken finger, gets accidently pushed down the stairs by Justine, Leon and Taye, causing a rib fracture and a broken leg. Levi, during recovery, really wants to go back to playing volleyball, videogames and spending time with his friends.
What interventions, referrals and other MDT professionals would we prepose?
You all have 5 minutes to come up with a plan, best one gets the points.
What I would do:
First we need to get to know Levi, build rapport, understand his goals and values. Next we can do a non-standardized assessment on his PADL's and ADL's currently, he doesn't have any cogn decline or acute issues so thats fine. We would work with Levi, paired with a PT to strengthen his leg, torso and finger again, inclusive of gait re-training and balance training. We would use AT that could help him reach, carry and help him with tasks. (during hosp and outpatient rehab). Also a home environment assessment, levi lives up stairs so we need to find a way to help him get up and down or some alternatives.
Refer to DR for pain medication, PT for rehab exercises, PSY if client found this traumatic, SW if he requires other assistance.
