Say we have a list of 100 numbers, going from 1 to 100:

1,2,3,4,5,6...,99,100

What formula could we use to find the sum of the list without repeating an operation? (Use only 1 +, 1 -, 1 divide, etc.)?

Number of items times (first number + last number) all divided by 2.

So for us that would be:

(100 * (1 + 100)) / 2

The fundamental theorem of calculus (part 2) is a theorem that links the concept of differentiating a function (calculating its slopes, or rate of change at each point in time) with the concept of integrating a function (calculating the area under its graph, or the cumulative effect of small contributions).

Why is this important? (Name one)

There are many responses, just a few:

Astronomers can determine distances in space and map planetary orbits.

Calculating marginal costs or predicting total profit.

Engineers can calculate the bending strength of materials or the three-dimensional motion of objects.
