Provide start to finish reconnection steps for the 24950-24952 monitor

  • To reconnect, you will have the patient unplug and re-plug the monitor.
  • The screen will display the “Medtronic” logo momentarily until it clears to the blue home screen. The various onscreen icons will pop up as it reboots.
  • Once you see the white arrow pointing right, have the patient press and release the middle button to the right side of the monitor screen. The white arrow should then prompt the patient to pick up the hand reader and place it over their device. Sometimes they will see a magnifying glass over signal bars first, just wait a moment and the monitor should resume transmission prompts.
  • Once the reader is over their device, they should see a progress bar fill up green. Sometimes they may see an icon of the hand reader with waves radiating outwards; this means the reader is not centered over the device and/or is not connecting with the device. Have the patient move the reader in small circles on their chest until it reconnects and resumes filling the progress bar.
  • Once finished, the monitor will chime and prompt them to put the reader back down in the monitor cradle.
  • The patient will see an icon of the monitor on the left, a computer screen to the right, and another green progress bar to indicate sending the transmission.
  • They should see a big green checkmark and today’s date once completed successfully.

You are obtaining a manual transmission from a MDT 24950 monitor, and received error code 3230. What is your next step?

  • Assuming you have already reset the monitor, tried again with 3230 or 3248 result, re-dock the reader and check for the battery charge icon. Let charge ~15 seconds and try again.
  • If error persists, pick up the reader and hold the grey button on top for several seconds until if powers off. Lights on reader will go out. Redock reader and let charge for ~15 seconds.
  • If error persists, pick up reader and immediately redock once or twice. If the lights on it flicker as it reconnects with the base, the charge pins on the monitor base are working and the patient just needs a new reader. If the lights on the reader do not flicker, the monitor base may not be delivering a charge and pt will need an entire replacement.
  • Note: patient only needs to charge monitor for ~20 minutes on a 3248 IF the monitor has been left unplugged. Otherwise just follow the above instructions.

  • The read icon will flash and then start connecting with the implanted device

  • If the 5 lights start flashing together, it's possible the monitor may not be close enough to the patient. Move closer and try again.

  • Once it successfully moves past the read icon, to the tower, then the stars the monitor is now paired
