This individual is viewed as a holy figure in Christianity
Jesus of Nazareth
A value I share with Christianity
Olivia: Through literature, I can experience new perspectives and opinions apart from mine. This is relevant to the “Golden Rule”, the concept in popular that causes it to be so wildly popular with pheasants and slaves. You do not need power or status to be admitted into Heaven, just compassion for others. “Do unto others as you would unto yourself.”
Will: Through celebrating Christmas, I commemorate (along with almost 2.5 billion others) the birth of Jesus. This is a significant event in Christianity, as Jesus innovated Christianity out of Judaism’s foundation. Without him, this religion would not be existent. Also, later he created a high spiritual effect through his death: claiming he died for humanity’s suffering and sin
What are the main three monotheistic religions
Christianity, Judaism, Islam

Moses
The time period when Muslims fast
Ramadan
The Sacred text of Christianity
The Holy Bible
A value I share with Judaism
Olivia: I connect to enforcement of equity, kindness, and compassion. These are core values that stabilize our society. Without these factors, we cannot have community but only competition, and when we only think of how to propel ourselves, we cannot truly advance. Community is a public responsibility.
Will: The concept of Sabbath is appealing to me as our life shouldn’t be characterized by adversity, but the lessons we manifest from it. However, if the whole week is an ongoing conflict and work, we’d lack time to reflect on and cherish our experiences and life, because whether religious or not, a mortal is a mortal, and we cannot let our life pass in a frenzy.

How was Jesus of Nazareth executed
Jesus of Nazareth was executed by being nailed to a cross.(Also known as Crucifixion)
A value I share with Islam
Will: Muslims identify themselves as “people of the book” who are thoroughly invested in the teachings of the Quran and the Writings. They live, love, and act based on the book, which I appreciate. They let their morals influence their actions,
Olivia: An aspect of the profession of faith is not just going through the motions of religion, you must truly embrace the teachings of God and himself. This is similar to our concept of passions, a quality that spurs persistence and dedication in our work. When you are passionate about a topic, it’s something that brings you joy so you are willing to pursue it without compensation, where life without your passions is worse than a life without money or comfort. In religion and in life, we must have passions to get us through the ups and lows.

A connection I can make beyond what was taught
Will and Olivia: The Torah has become the foundation of most Hebrew laws, as Talmuds digest it and modify the laws according to the Torah. Thus, Hebrew laws can evolve with generations of Jews. For example, a law that was composed in the 7th century may be impractical for modern times. For instance, Jews were instructed by God to wash before prayer. However, there were no more specific directions, so Talmuds had to infuse this with their own advice for it to become religious law. It’s keenly similar to the US Constitution, the backbone of America’s laws. While the Constitution doesn’t state every offense and how it should be handled, it provides some ground rules that every legislature must consult. It’s also imperfect. For example, women and non-whites could not vote until centuries later, so just like the Torah, it advances. Both the Torah and the Constitution were ancient pieces of paper that continue to shape society today.

A connection I can make with how these shared values strengthen me
Will and Olivia: These values keep me alive, healthy and educated. The mutual message of the Golden Rule from all three religions are crucial for some public services that dictate my life and those around me. For example, the school lunch is free if you select the right amount of food. Of course, the district could renounce this effort and direct the responsibility for their child entirely on their guardians, but of course some would lack the resources to properly feed their child. The ability to empathize with others, to reevaluate the issue from the parents’ perspective, allows children in low income situations to maintain a healthy diet.
