Alma the younger became dumb, unable to speak and move. (Mosiah 27: 19) Alma his father rejoiced because he knew that it was the power of God that made it happen. He gathered the people to gain a witness of the Lord's power (verse 20)

They had deep love for every human that they could not bear anyone perishing. (Mosiah 28:3-4)
