What is the length of time Movement Planner 'plans' (also known as the 'Planning Horizon')?
12 hours in to the future
How do you know if an activity is 'in progress'?
Half circle next to the activity in the Train Plan.
How is a block represented in Movement Planner?
Purple rectangle.
What should you do if you get a broken rail?
Place a block in TMDS with an expected 'end' time.
What is the difference between a 'meet' and a 'pass'?
A meet involves trains going opposite directions and a pass involves trains going the same direction.
How often does Movement Planner update the plan?
Every 2 minutes.
If a train will no longer complete an activity, what should you do?
Delete or disable the activity from the Train Plan.
How does Movement Planner know about 'constraints'?
Movement Planner receives constraint information based on TMDS and TSS.
What should you do if you have a train that goes in to emergency?
Create a quick stop for the train to indicate that it is not moving.
What is the difference between an 'activity' and a 'constraint'?
Activities relate to trains and constraints relate to tracks.
What represents the current timeline in the visual plan?
Red line.
How do you 'complete' an activity?
Click in the circle next to the activity in the Train Plan; then select 'complete'.

Once the activity is completed.
What happens if Movement Planner requests a signal for a track segment with a restrictive tag?
ARNI alert and pop up box similar to the way a stacked route would indicate.
How do you prevent Movement Planner from lining a signal in to the terminal before the terminal is ready for the train?
Constraint - block - if the reason is due to a service interruption and no traffic will be able to traverse the track.
Disable the signal if the terminal is just wanting a 'heads up'.
What is one thing to look for when trying to learn to read Movement Planner.
Look for delay.
Observe activities.
Observe constraints.
Understand current time.
How do you change the territory viewed in Movement Planner?
Territory Selection page.
Will AMTRK automatically get a signal beyond a passenger stop?
Yes, this train is the only exception to the rule and will get a signal beyond an activity that is not complete if it is planned first over track.
Why is it important to initiate and edit constraints in TMDS?
TMDS will send constraint information to Movement Planner. Movement Planner will not send constraint information to TMDS.
(ex. If you edit an end time on a block in Movement Planner (not TMDS), if the system is logged off and and back on, it will revert to the time in TMDS and not Movement Planner.)
What is one 'Movement Planner' thing you need to make sure of if a train is tied down without a crew?
