He family's house is about to be destroyed in the yard. Mrs. Frisby is the hero of this story by doing whatever it takes to save her family (risking her life by talking to the Owl and Rats).

NIMH is a place that scientist studies the way the brain works. The scientists work with the mice and rats. The rats and mice that the scientist work with are given injections of either a special solution or no special solution. The Rats learned how to read here.

How do the rats and mice escape NIMH? Details?

Some of the animals get a special solution that makes them very smart and long-living.  Since the rats and mice are now smart, they figure out they can use the air ducts to leave the building.  They recon the air ducts first before they make the escape. They use drainpipes for toehold to get down the building.

The Owl is an extremely wise character. He knows all and sees all. He was able to advise Mrs. Frisby to go to the rats and tell them that he sent her. By doing this, her family was ultimately saved.

Mrs. Frisby is a widowed mouse and takes care of her children by herself. She put her children's needs first and is protective of them. She provides food and shelter for her kids. He risks her life by reaching out to the Rats to devise a plan to move her house so that her son, Timothy, does not die in the cold since he is sick.

Life was very good for them.  They had plenty to eat, lots of area to play, and it was less dangerous because they knew when the market was closed and open.
