How should you treat your classmates and others around you?
The same way I want to be treated. Kind and Courteous!
100
What do you do when.... A. your pencil breaks? B. you need to go to the restroom? C. you finish your work?
A. You raise your pointer finger in the air and wait for Mrs. Winstead to nod or tell you that you can sharpen it. B. You raise two fingers (like a peace sign) and wait for Mrs. Winstead to nod or tell you that you may go. C. You turn it in if Mrs. Winstead has included that in her instructions, get out your AR book and read silently. It is never ok to just sit there at your desk and do nothing. Nor is it ok to talk while others work!
100
What happens when you break rules in Mrs. Winstead's class?
You have to pull your card from the Behavior Chart. Every day you are automatically on GREEN which is GREAT!
100
What happens if you do NOT have to pull your card AT ALL... ALL WEEK? Or in other words, you stay on green?
At the end of the day on Friday, you will automatically get a piece of candy from my Treasure Chest! You will also be in the running to be the "Student of the Week" for the following week. The Student of the Week gets special perks such as being the leader for the week, being my "assistant" who will be asked to help me with passing things out, picking things up, or doing other tasks I need help with! They will also be mentioned in the weekly newsletter and/or the class webpage!
100
How should I line up and act in the hallway when going somewhere?
HIP, LIP, FACE FORWARD! In other words, you should be facing the front, with lips closed, and hands by your side. Don't touch the walls or knock on doors. Don't jump up to hit the signs. If you see a friend or someone you know, feel free to smile and wave.... just don't talk! Others are having class, so we need to be respectful!
200
What should you do with your supplies and other things in Mrs. Winstead's classroom?
Take care of them, use them correctly, and share with others when necessary!
200
What is the deal with homework?
Homework must be completed the night it is given and be ready to turn in or go over the next day. If homework isn't completed, you will have to pull your card and work on it during recess or add it to the following night's homework given. If homework is consistently not completed, you will face serious consequences such as 3 licks, a write up form, call to parents, and/or a conference with parents at school.
200
What happens if you have broken a rule or two or misbehaved?
Mrs. Winstead will tell you to move your card from GREEN to YELLOW which is a WARNING. Everyone deserves a chance to be reminded of what Mrs. Winstead expects before having to face serious consequences!

What are chance cards and how do I get one?
Chance cards are something you can get when you are caught doing something good. For example, helping your classmate pick up their books after accidentally dropping them on the floor. Offering to help someone that doesn't understand something. Letting someone borrow a pencil when they may not have one. Holding the door for someone. Please note.... these "good" actions must be natural. In other words, if you do something just because you think I'm watching and you HOPE to get one... will not work. Also don't come up to me saying I did this... or I did that... can i get a chance card. . because that won't work either! My motto is.... if you are treating others positively ALL the time, you are bound to get caught doing something good at some point or another! :)

What should I do during class bathroom breaks?
The bathroom monitor should be the first one in and the last one out. Everyone else should line up outside and wait for a stall to be open. When you are motioned in by the monitor, quickly use the bathroom, wash your hands, maturely throw your paper towel away after drying hands, and come back out and line up outside the room. There should be NO talking, playing, communicating in ANY way, banging on walls, WRITING on walls... NO ONE should have any writing utensils unless you are the monitor!
300
What should you do with other's property?
Be respectful of them and if found on floor, return to the owner or place in the Lost and Found!
300
During class time and lessons, when can you raise your hand and when can you just blurt out the answers?
When Mrs. Winstead begins a question with saying CLASS, anyone can blurt out the answer. When Mrs. Winstead specifically says someone's name or uses popsicle sticks to call on someone, you must silently and respectfully listen unless called on. When Mrs. Winstead says Who can tell me..... then you raise your hand and wait to be called on!
300
What happens if you break a rule for the 2nd or 3rd time and your card is already on YELLOW?
You have to turn your card to BLUE which means you will have a writing assignment to complete along with whatever homework you have for the night. The writing assignment will be to write your multiplication facts #1-12 THREE times each. The writing assignment will be expected first thing the following morning of school. Mrs. Winstead will not remind you the afternoon you leave, nor should she have to ask for it the next morning. If you do not have it, your assignment will be doubled and you will not go to recess or do anything extracurricular for the day. Lab, Library, Music, Talk Time, etc...

What happens with these chance cards once we get one and what can we do with them?
If you are caught doing something good and I give you one, I will get a small scrap of paper and put your name or assigned number on it, then put it in my chance card bowl. Every Friday I will draw from the bowl. The number of cards I draw each Friday will depend on YOU. How? How ever many kids that stay on green ALL week will be how many times I draw a chance card out of the bowl! If all kids stay on green, then I will draw 22 times! Chance cards can be used several ways. If I draw your card, you can immediately exchange it for a piece of candy. Or, you can keep that chance card and save them up for certain passes that I offer. If you look on the back wall, you will see all the different passes!

What is expected of me in the cafeteria?
As most of you know, last year we were not allowed to talk because it always got too loud and students didn't have time to eat because they were talking too much. As of right now I am not sure what the rules are so I'm gonna just go with what we did last year for now. This may be subject to change though. You are expected to stand in line respectfully and wait patiently to get your tray. Once you go through line, you are to quietly walk to the table, sit down, and begin eating. You should not talk at all unless I give you permission to. There should be no communication what so ever because sign language or signals to each other may be too tempting to talk. You shouldn't ask others for food or trade items. All you should be doing is eating. For all of the students who I nor the student of the week see talking, will be given 5 minutes of talk time once we get back in the room. For any students who are caught talking will have to stand at the back of the room facing the wall while everyone else gets to visit! :(
400
What should you do when Mrs. Winstead gives you directions/instructions?
Listen carefully and follow directions the FIRST time asked!
400
What do you do when Mrs. Winstead says CLASS, CLASS?
You immediately stop what you are doing whether it's individual assignments, group work, or reading... and say YES, YES! This is Mrs. Winstead's way to call the class back together for directions or another lesson!
400
What happens if you are on BLUE and you manage to break ANOTHER rule or get asked to pull your card again?
You will go from BLUE to RED, which is NOT GOOD! If you get to RED, that means you have had a very bad day. By this time, Mrs. Winstead would have had to call your name constantly all day which will mean you will have to write your multiplication facts #1-12 FIVE times each and Mrs. Winstead will call your parents that day to discuss your behavior. Another consequence could be three licks.

What are dotties and how can I be assigned one?
Dotties are classroom jobs that I assign my students to be responsible for every day. When you are assigned one, you are expected to do them well. Dotties will change every 4 weeks. If you are especially good at a certain dotty, I may let you keep it for longer. I will let everyone apply for the dotties you want by filling out an application just like I had to fill out one to get this job as your 4th grade teacher! Door Holder - is always SECOND in line and holds the door for the entire class when going to lunch, lab, library, etc... After holding the door, the DH can get back in their spot 2nd in line. Caboose - is the student responsible for calling the rest of the class to line up whenever we leave the class and is at the end of the line. This student must be able to be trusted to behave because they are the end of the line. You call the student of week first, then door holder, then the others by numbers or however you see fit. Boy/Girl Monitors - The person who stands at bathroom door to regulate the number of kids in the bathroom, controls when next one goes in, and jots down any names of students who are talking, playing, or misbehaving. These two students must be trustworthy and HONEST! Energy Patrol - This student is responsible for making sure we don't waste energy! Turning lights off every time we leave classroom, turning on computers in the morning, making sure PROM. board is off when we leave, and shutting down computers when told! Board Eraser - This person will erase boards when asked, and once a week will clean the board with spray/paper towels! Sweeper - This person will sweep the classroom at certain times during the day or when necessary! It's important to keep our classroom clean! Homework Checker - This person will go around each morning and make sure classmates have completed homework. They will make a list of any students who haven't and give to me. This student has to be a good role model who always does their homework! MessyDesk Patrol - Keeping our classroom neat and clean is important, which means students must do their part. If you can't keep your desk clean, this person will be the one to let you know that you need to straighten it up! They will be given a post it pad and every afternoon will check your desks to make sure everything is put up inside your desk with nothing messy hanging out or on the floor. If they find that your desk is messy, they will place a post it note on your desk as a warning. If it's not straightened the next day, they will turn your name into me and you may have to pull your card! Time Keeper - This student will keep up with the time and alert Mrs. Winstead when it is time to transition/go to lunch or somewhere else. This student will also be in charge of doing the absentee every morning by 8:00. Trash Taker - This student will pick up trash on the floor at certain times every day and make sure the trash can is out in the hall when custodians come by to take it out. Will tell you time for that later. Cafe Crew 1 and 2. These students will be the first ones to turn in tray after lunch. Cafe 1 will be responsible for wiping tables clean quickly. Cafe 2 will be responsible for making sure there is no trash or spills under the table and helping 1 with wiping if necessary. These two students must be prompt and come back to class asap!

How should we act during recess or P.E.?
Students are expected to run and play and have a good time with friends for sure. Be creative, play games, enjoy each other, and talk to your friends. Do NOT be ugly to others or say anything negative. Do NOT put your hands on someone else, and if you see someone fighting or about to fight, you let your teacher know IMMEDIATELY because whoever puts their hands on someone else will receive an automatic trip to the office! Girls.... I know girls have drama... but try to limit it. If you can't say anything nice, don't say it at all. Be sweet. Life's too short to be mean to others. If you have problems on the playground, let a teacher know. Boys... play with the boys. Leave the girls alone. If you play football (that's only if I allow it) you may NOT play tackle football... the first time that happens I will shut it down. On the playground you need to listen for when i yell and tell people to line up. If you continue to play while the rest of the class lines up, you will be in trouble so pay attention! Also... no huddling up and getting in groups surrounding other students. i want to be able to see each and every one of you on that playground at all times! :) If you know you have to sit out because you have work to do or punishment... don't try to skip out and play... for your sake... go ahead and take a seat to get it done or i will doubl your work! :)

What do you need to remember when it comes to interacting with my friends and other classmates?
Keep your hands and feet to YOURSELF!
500
What do you do when the following situations occur? A. The intercom comes on... B. One of the principals walks in... C. A visitor knocks on the door...
A. Immediately be silent and listen because Mrs. Winstead needs to hear any announcements made! B. Continue doing whatever you were doing before they entered, whether it was listening to a lesson, working at your desk, or whatever. Do not stop and stare. It will happen a lot! Pretend they aren't there and be on your best behavior! C. Continue working unless Mrs. Winstead's lesson has to stop for a second, be quiet and read an AR book while Mrs. Winstead talks to visitor. No Talking unless quietly working in groups or pairs!
500
What must you do to be sent to the office to see Mrs. Price or Mr. Lundy?
Mrs. Winstead will not write someone up or send them to the office unless a serious rule has been broken, a fight has broken out, or a student has done something to someone else that is unacceptable.
500
What is the A List?
On the back of the door, I will post dots with your assigned numbers on them. Every week I will add a tally mark for each A you have gotten on your grades, and at the end of the 9 weeks we will see which three students have gotten the most A's for the 9 weeks. Those three students will get Mcdonalds breakfast on me or if you prefer a donut, we can do that!

Random things.... A. When do I tell on someone? B. What do I do with notes from home? C. What if it's my birthday? D. What if I leave a book at school that I need for homework?
A. I do not teach kindergarten for a reason. Babies are too much for me except my own! You are now in fourth grade and must learn how to be your own problem solver! So, coming to me to tell on someone for STARING at you funny is not a good enough reason to tattle. If someone is physically hurting you or bullying you... then yes.. tell me immediately. If someone is hurting themselves or doing something dangerous? Yes... tell me immediately. If someone is cheating YELL THEIR NAME OUT immediately (in class) or come to me and talk when you can. I think you get the picture.... just always ask yourself before coming to me... Is this serious? Or is this silly? B. I can be very forgetful... so... if your parents have written a note to me about something... do not just leave it on my desk... because it may get eaten by my messy desk sometimes. Instead, hand it to me personally and say THIS IS A NOTE FROM MY MOM... or whomever! :) C. If it is your birthday, then by all means it's a SPECIAL day! If your mom wants to bring treats for the whole class to have a mini celebration, then I have no problem with that. I just need to know ahead of time! If your parents can't afford it or do not have time to bring something, then it's possible I, myself can bake a cake to bring. We will play it by ear! D. We are all human therefore sometimes we make mistakes. Including me! If for some reason, you get home and realize you are missing your book or something you had for homework, get your mom/dad to write a note explaining to me that you made a mistake, and I will excuse it once or twice. But, if I get a note every week or other week or even 5 times in a month? I will not be so lenient because you are in fourth grade now, which means you are BIG girl and boys.. learning responsibility is important! I have to get you ready for 5th grade which will be different! :)
