Which is worth more to your grade, a reading quiz or a quick write?

Neither! They are weighted equally in the grade book. Assignments go into their respective skills category to make up a percentage of the grades. Each assignment is then weighted for each class period it has been worked on. 

Quizzes and quick writes each take one day. An essay may be ten class periods, so it will be worth ten times as much.

What happens if you are absent?

If the absence is excused, you automatically get a two-day extension on missed work. If it is unexcused you will receive a zero.

How does participation affect your grade?

This typically counts as speaking/listening. It could also be under reading if it is during a Socratic seminar, writing if you are presenting your work, or grammar/vocabulary if you are making a Quizlet.
