What happens when a student is out of uniform? 

When a student is not in uniform, we do our best to provide the student with a temporary replacement (such as skirt, pants, or polo shirt), which we ask the student to wash and return to the Middle School Office as soon as possible. Advisors will note when a student is repeatedly out of uniform and communicate this to the parent(s). Students who are repeatedly out of uniform will lose the privilege of taking part in full or half tag days.

What shirts are you allowed to wear? 

- Dennis/Mills white polo with Chapin logo (short or long sleeves)

- On game days, students who are participating on a Chapin sports team may wear their   jersey; if the jersey does not have sleeves, the student should wear a white shirt underneath

What is the purpose of the RUP?

This RUP applies universally to all community members, including students, faculty, staff, and visitors who utilize the School’s network resources through either school-owned or personally-owned equipment. Additionally, specific guidelines tailored for the Professional Community (“PC”) are outlined in detail within Chapin’s Technology Policies and can be accessed through the PC Portal.

 What is the mission of the middle school?

The Chapin School is dedicated to empowering a diverse, ambitious and resolute community of young women to thrive and lead in their world. Guided by our motto, Fortiter et Recte, Chapin considers bravery, compassion, service and respect for self and others to be fundamental values. We believe that equity, inclusion and collaboration are critical to personal growth. By advancing and deepening each student’s agency, confidence and resilience within an affirming and joyful learning environment, Chapin strives to ensure that each student is emboldened to pursue distinction as a leader and contributing citizen.

- You break it, you fix it: this gives students a chance to take responsibility for their actions and make amends.

- Loss of a privilege: this could look like a student losing the privilege of participating in an activity or using certain materials for a brief period of time.

- Take a break: time to recover self-control and practice strategies and tools to calm down before rejoining the class community.
