Explain how the blood flows through the heart, in order.
The superior and inferior vena cava pour deoxygenated blood into the right atrium, which is pumped through the tricuspid valve and into the right ventricle. Blood then goes through the pulmonary valves, through the pulmonary artery and to the right and left lung where it receives oxygen. Oxygenated blood comes back to the heart through the pulmonary veins and into the left atrium, through the mitral valve (bicuspid valve) and into the left ventricle. It continues out the aortic valve, through the aorta and out to the rest of the body.
