You may eat as long as you clean up after yourself. When food is on the floor/trash is left behind, that class will lose the privilege. Water is always welcome! Sticky substances are frowned upon.

What is the point of having the cell phone rule?

Cell Phones cause distractions and disruptions. A lot of times we think we are multitasking, but really we aren't. 

It is too tempting for the majority of students right now, and their focus needs to be on the course work.

It's also just a professional/respect issue.

What happens if Ms. Mac sees that you're using your phone the first time? What happens after that?

1st - she takes it and you can get it after class. Parent contact will be made.


2nd - she takes it and gives it to the office. Parent Contact will be made, and you will have to place your phone in the calculator caddy every day in Ms. Mac's class.

If you need a pencil, what should you do?

Get it right when you come to class. If you forget, raise your hand and wait on Ms. Mac to call you. Then ask her for a pencil.

Raffle tickets are pulled. Whoever wins gets chips.

*Reminder: This is not just Ms. Mac's rule. This is the SCHOOL/DISTRICT MANDATED RULE.

Cell Phones must be away. They are not to be used or gotten out in class unless explicitly told otherwise.

Various Reasons!

1. She needs to concentrate in the beginning of class for attendance purposes.

2. Some assignments are just for YOU to figure out. Talking is disruptive and distracting. 

3. It is a practice of self-control and contemplative reflection.

For every day you missed, you get those days to turn in work. Every day after that, you lose 5 points off of the overall grade.

Ms. Mac needs to be strict at first so that norms are created and expectations are met. Once she can trust the class, more freedom will be given.
