You may eat as long as you clean up after yourself. When food is on the floor/trash is left behind, that class will lose the privilege. Water is always welcome! Sticky substances are frowned upon.

She has her personal and professional things there. Students are not to touch her things.
One of Ms. Mac's rules is "Follow instructions the first time they are given." What is the purpose of this rule?
To show that you are paying attention and ready to do what is required of you.
So that she is not wasting her time and energy repeating herself 100 times.
To show Ms. Mac who is faltering and therefore needs help.

What is the 10:10 Rule?
Please do not ask to leave class during the first or last 10 minutes of class or while direct instruction is happening.
What is the point of having the cell phone rule?
Cell Phones cause distractions and disruptions. A lot of times we think we are multitasking, but really we aren't.
It is too tempting for the majority of students right now, and their focus needs to be on the course work.
It's also just a professional/respect issue.
What happens if Ms. Mac sees that you're using your phone the first time? What happens after that?
2nd - she takes it and gives it to the office. Parent Contact will be made, and you will have to place your phone in the calculator caddy every day in Ms. Mac's class.
If you need a pencil, what should you do?
Get it right when you come to class. If you forget, raise your hand and wait on Ms. Mac to call you. Then ask her for a pencil.
What happens at the end of class every other Friday?
Raffle tickets are pulled. Whoever wins gets chips.
What are 2 things you should not do during a class discussion or when one of your peers is speaking?
1. Talking to other people
2. Giggling at a classmate
3. Making faces in reaction to what they say in a negative way
4. Having silent conversations with other classmates about the speaker in an effort to diminish what they are saying

Cell Phones must be away. They are not to be used or gotten out in class unless explicitly told otherwise.
Why does Ms. Mac want you to be silent during certain things?
Various Reasons!
1. She needs to concentrate in the beginning of class for attendance purposes.
2. Some assignments are just for YOU to figure out. Talking is disruptive and distracting.
3. It is a practice of self-control and contemplative reflection.
Your bellringer instructions might not be the same every day. How will you know what to do?

What is Ms. Mac's make-up work rule?
For every day you missed, you get those days to turn in work. Every day after that, you lose 5 points off of the overall grade.

A doorbell will ring. Students should stop talking and listen for further instructions.

Why is Ms. Mac going to be strict at first?
Ms. Mac needs to be strict at first so that norms are created and expectations are met. Once she can trust the class, more freedom will be given.
