Why did the United States meet with China recently?
After nine months of tension revolving the trade war, the United States and China met to discuss an end to the conflict. Every diplomat involved appears very optimistic that the trade wars will come to an end after the negotiations, especially since both sides are taking an active role. The talks began on monday and extended to Wednesday. As of right now there is no resolution. The United States will return to the White House to discuss the next steps but China did agree to buy a generous amount of American products and agriculture.

Who does the Congo claim to have won their Presidential election and what is the controversy surrounding the winner?
The Congo claims that Felix Tshisekedi won their recent election; however, according to surveys taken before the vote, Tshisekedi was not predicted to win. In fact, another candidate, Martin Fayulu, appeared to be largely favored by the population. After hearing the results of the election, Fayulu shared “The results have nothing to do with the truth of the ballot box.” Many other outside observers also believe that Fayulu is the true winner of the election.
What are the tensions between the military and the government?
Right before election time, the two largest media networks were blocked by the military in all army controlled areas of Pakistan, represents tensions between the government and the military. More importantly, Sharif (former Prime Minister) blames the army for his disqualification from office in 2017, causing Sharif to question the military about not prosecuting the perpetrator of his disqualification.
