Because he stayed on the path of our Prophet Ibrahim AS even before Prophet Muhammad SAW recieved prophethood. He would shun idols, adultery, alcohol, and any meat slaughtered in any name other than Allah.

(This is so sweet I'm gonna cry🥺, The Sahaba's love for the Prophet)

Question: What was Amr ibn Al As (r) 's beautiful famous description of the Prophet (saw)?

Amr ibn Al As( r) said "There wasn’t anyone more beloved to me than the Messenger of Allah –  صلى الله عليه وسلم –nor was anyone more revered in my eyes than him. I could not bear to fill my eyes with him out of reverence for him, and if I were asked to describe him, I would not be able to, because I could not fill my eyes with him. "

- Basically, even though he spent his time looking at the Prophet, out of his deep reverence and awe of the Prophet he couldn't look at him long enough so if you asked him to describe the Prophet he wouldn't be able to :(
