No, leaving school without permission is not safe.

Different for everyone-Breathing, yoga, self-talk, etc.

Say the problem
If a teacher asks me to turn off the laptop when I am in the middle of a game and I scream and flip my desk, is this reaction too large or the right size for the problem?

Warning, break, loss of box, time out
What happens if someone leaves school without permission?
The student needs to come back to school. If the student is unsafe, the police will be contacted.
If I am struggling in class with work, what are some strategies I could try?
Ask for help, take a break, squeeze a stress ball, try to answer the ones you can and come back to the ones you can't, try two problems then rest for a minute, then try two more, etc.

Think of solutions

When are students considered to be off the clock/not working?
Sleeping, refusing to work, in the middle of a break or time out

Danger-traffic, hunters, etc.

Tense and relax your muscles, use positive self-talk, think about your happy place, stress press, etc.

If a student is trying to go out the fire escape what happens?
This is unsafe. They will be given the choice to walk or be escorted to time out.
How many coping strategies should one person try?
As many as they need to calm down.
What is the 4th step in problem solving?
Pick an idea to try.
If someone falls out on the playground and is bleeding and you run for help, is your reaction too big or just right?
Just right, this is a safety issue and a big deal problem!
How can phoenix cards be earned? What can they be used for?
Staying in class, exceeding behavior expectations
Can be used for assignment coupons, snacks and drinks for movie days, etc.
If someone is trying to put items around their neck to choke themselves what happens?
This is not safe. Staff will assist student to remove those items.
What will the card on my desk signal to others?
If I need help and can't find my voice to use my words.
Why is learning to solve problems safely important?
Solving problems will be need throughout one's life, so we need to practice building our skills in this area as we grow and mature.
If you break a rule in class and lose a box and you react by taking a deep breath and using positive self-talk is this too big of a reaction or just right?
