Unit Structures
There are three structures in each unit throughout myPerspectives.
What is whole, small, and independent learning?
In Small Group Learning, students who need more support with understanding the text, teachers can provide a tool.
What is accessible level text?
My student wanted to do more reading, but do it online. As a teacher I could assign multiple text that are not audio supported.
What is a digital library?
At the beginning of the year students are expected to complete an assessment.
What is a baseline test?
In the teachers guide there are 2 sections that is the grey matter.
What is the introduction and the tool kit?
In independent learning, students are expected to read how many selections?
What is 1 (one) selection?
If I need to challenge my students more on the questions in small group learning, a teacher can assign a higher level of questioning for students to answer.
What are Extension Questions?
This year as a district we will integrate one trade book. In order to get lesson plans that include questions, vocabulary, and tests, I need to go to this resource.
What is trade book lesson plans?
After whole and small class learning students are expected to complete a written assignment.
What is a Performance Based Task.
The tool kit includes multiple items to support examples of students writing.
What are writing exemplars/models and rubrics?
The role of the instructor changes in each structure. In the whole class learning the instructor is the what.
What is the teacher?
As a teacher, I say ask 3 before you ask me. If I were a student, a resource in MyPersepctives could be utilized if I needed to know how to do a close or first read.
What is the tool kit?
In my conventions area, lesson supports are divided into three components.
What are interactive practice lessons, tutorials, and worksheets.
At the end of each unit there is something that student complete.
What is a unit assessment?
In order to provide more resources (worksheets, trade books, videos) to help teach my lesson, a teacher can utilize this online tool.

The role of the teacher changes in each structure. In small class learning the teacher has a role.
What is a facilitator?
Program Level Resources houses daily tools.
What are graphic organizers?
To support student understanding of a standard, a teacher could use this resource.
What is Standards Practice Common Core companion?
To ensure students are understanding the content of the texts, teachers can give this to students.
What is a comprehension check and selection test?
Students sometimes plagiarize their writing. MyPerspectives has a tool that checks for plagiarism.
What is Plagiarism checker?
Each text has a qualitative and quantitative measure rubric. This 3 column Decide and Plan structure supports multiple student needs in the classroom.
What is ELL support, Strategic support, and Challenge support?
If students need more support on Writing, Conventions, Word Study, and Speaking and Listening, teachers could assign these supports.
What is RP?
To support the writing and research standards, this support is found in MyPerspectives.
What is Writing and Research?
In whole class learning, the teacher models it.
In small group learning, it is done collaboratively.
After independent learning, it is done independently.
What is a Performance Based Assessment?
MyPerspectives (Pearson) has worked closely with a company to provide resources to support teaching and student learning and visual understanding of best practices.
What is Teaching Channel?
