What is Beau's Lines?
Red itchy rash on the skin on the bottom of the feet and/ or between the toes, usually between the 4th and 5th toe
What is Tinea Pedis?
Darkening of the fingernails or toenails.
What is Melanonychia?
Bacterial inflammation of the tissues surrounding the nail causing pus, swelling, and redness usually in the skin fold.
What is Paronychia?
Result of a habit of chewing the nail or chewing the hardened skin surrounding the nail plate; also known as bitten nails.
What is Onychophagy?
Dark purplish spots
What is Bruised Nails?
Inflammation of the nail matrix, followed by shedding of the nail
What is Onychia?
Nail that grows into the sides of the tissue around the nail; also known as ingrown nails.
What is Onychocryptosis?
Fungal infection of the nail plate.
What is Onychomycosis?
Split or brittle nails that have a series of lengthwise ridges giving a rough appearance to the surface of the nail plate.
What is Onychorrhexis?
Nails that turn into a variety of colors
What is Discolored Nails?
Whitish discolorations of the nails, usually caused by injury to the matrix area; also known as white spots
What is Leukonychia spots?
Increased crosswise curvature throughout the nail plate; also known as trumpet nail
What is Pincer Nail?
The separation and falling off of a nail plate from the nail bed; affects fingernails and toenails.
What is Onychomadesis?
Vertical lines running through the length of the natural nail plate that are caused by uneven growth of the nails
What are Ridges?
Noticeably thin white plate more flexible than normal and can curve over the free edge
What is Eggshell Nails?
Tiny pits or severe roughness on the surface of the nail plate
What is Nail Psoriasis?
A type of highly curved nail usually caused by injury to the matrix; also known as folded nail
What is Plicatured nail
Severe inflammation of the nail in which a lump of red tissue grows up from the nail bed to the nail plate.
What is Pyogenic Granuloma?
Abnormal condition that occurs when the skin is stretched by the nail plate.
What is Nail Pterygium?
Living skin around the nail plate becomes split or torn
What is a Hangnail?
Lifting of the nail plate from the nail bed without shedding, usually beginning at the free edge and continuing towards the luna area.
What is Onycholysis?
Hemorrhages caused by trauma or injury to the nail bed.
What is Splinter Hemorrhages?
One of the several common bacteria that can cause nail infection.
What is Pseudomonas Aeruginosa?
Condition caused by an injury or disease of the nail unit.
