The Children Services Department will provide subsidized child care for students enrolled full or part-time in a recognized school, college, or university.
What is Students?
The Corporation of the County of Simcoe Children Services Department provides child care fee subsidy to custodial parents who are persons deemed to be in need.
What is Joint Custody?
A person who is in Canada as a visitor or illegal immigrant is not eligible for fee assistance.
What is Newcomers to Canada?
The Children Services Department will provide an applicant/client with an efficient process to request a review of decisions involving the denial, reduction or cancellation of Child Care.
What is Complaint Resolution and Appeals?
To ensure that appropriate action is taken when child care is no longer required.
What is Break in Service?
A client file will contain facts concerning the client’s child (children), concerns expressed with their Child Care arrangements and the clients’ eligibility for fee subsidy.
What is Case Notes?
CMSM’s are to determine the amount of subsidized child care for each eligible family in accordance with the provincial policy statement “Improving Access to Subsidized Child Care”.
What is Eligible Hours of Care?
To ensure eligible hours of care are approved when child is in custody of the custodial parent.
What is Court Orders?
Any requests for an increase in days over and above the parameters outlined above must be forwarded to the Program Supervisor for review and approval.
What is Children with Recognized Needs?
The Children Services Department may approve child care fee subsidy when a client is unable to work due to medical reasons.
What is Illness of a Child or Parent?
To ensure accurate, consistent client information and child’s information, including reason for service, placements and funding type in both hard copy files and database.
What is Random Client File Review?
Eligibility will be reassessed upon receipt of new tax documents each year following. The number of days approved based on minimum wage calculations will be in place until the next tax document is available.
What is Self-Employed Applicants?
Where a child is removed on a permanent basis, subsidy will terminate two weeks from the day on which the child was removed.

Confidentiality within the Department is governed by; The Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA). The Corporation of the County of Simcoe Children Services Policies and Procedures.
What is Releasing Information From File?
Families will apply for child care fee subsidy by completing an Online Application for Fee Subsidy (OLAF).
