Plot
A stuggle between opposing forces.
Conflict

Character
The time or place of the action.
Setting
A message about life or human nature that the writer shares with the reader.
Theme
Exposition, Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action, and Resolution.
Stages of Plot
A conflict that occurs within a person.

Main Character
When the setting of a story is usually established.
Exposition

An interupption in the action of the plot to tell what happened at an earlier time.

Characterization
Refers to the past, present, future, season, month, and time of day
Time
The contrast between what is expected or what appears to be and what actually is.
Irony
The turing point of a conflict. Can occur before the climax or at the same time.
Crisis
A struggle that arises because of differing values, customs, or circumastances between groups of people.
Cultural Conflict
The Writer may: *Direct comments about a character through the voice of the narrator *Describe the character's physical appearance *Present the character's own thoughts, speech, and actions *Present thoughts, speech, and actions of other characters.
