Narrative Elements
This element is important to a story because it shows the lesson, or message, that the author is trying to convey, or show, the reader.
What is theme?
Where the setting and main characters are introduced in the story.
What is exposition?
Time and place answers these two questions about setting.
What is where and when?
Harry Potter versus evil forces is this type of conflict.
What is external character vs. supernatural?
The part of the plot diagram in Restart when Chase is cleared of charges, Brendan and Kimmy are a couple, Brendan is a YouTube star, and Chase is a good kid.
What is the resolution/conclusion?
This element shows who or what the story is mainly about.
What is: characters/characterization?
Most exciting part of the story, where the character faces the conflict head on, about 3/4 of the way through the plot.
