Native American Homes
This kind of home was built by the Nez Percé Indians. It was of 12 poles covered with grass mats or bison skin.

This tribe was from the southeast of Oregon. They ate deer, fish and small animals and many plants from the land. They made their clothes from tules, willow, and sage. Their homes were Willow Framed Houses.

This kind of home was built by the Tillamook, Chinook, and Takelma. It often had a fire in the center.

This tribe lived on the coast and near the ocean. They ate fish, seals, elk, bear, deer and much more. They were often barefoot. They didn't eat cheese.

The main food for many tribes, and all of the tribes enjoyed this water animal. It is an important food source.

This tribe was from the south and southwest Oregon. They ate a lot of salmon, steelhead, and trout and other big game animals. They used many acorns in their diet as well as plants, roots, and berries. The Camas bulb was very important. They used smoke signals to communicate.

Many Native Americans lived in these wooden structures made from tree wood. They were also known as longhouses.
What are plankhouses?
This tribe was from Northwest Oregon. They had access to the Pacific Ocean, so they ate a lot of fish, especially salmon, and seals. They also had access to huge forests with lots of trees. They used these trees to make clothing as well as their plankhouses. They also used fur.

A social event or ceremony used by many Tribes. It usually marked important life events such as feasts, memorials, marriage, etc.
