These home were found in the southwest region. They were made out of clay, pebbles, and straw and could be from four to five stories high. They looked like apartment buildings

People in the southwest were expert farmers. They were able to grow this primary source of cloth in their fields. They would weave it into cloth to be made into clothing.

This region stretched from the Mississippi River to the Atlantic Ocean. It ran from the Great Lakes to the Ohio River Valley. Native Americans settled amongst its hills and mountains, in valleys and along sea coasts.

This shelter was found in the Southeast region. They were dwellings built on platforms three feet above the ground. The platform protected the houses from swampy ground. The roof was made of palmetto leaves and there were no walls.

Found on a narrow strip of land along the Pacific Coast from Alaska to California. Dense cedar forest grew right to the oceans shore. The climate was mild but the area received heavy rain almost all year.

In the Northeast, the people used temporary homes made by bending small trees into a dome shaped frame. This frame was covered with mats made from birch bark trees.
