Carbon enters the food chain when animals eat producers and other consumers. Carbon moves from plants to animals.

Nitrogen returns to the air as nitrates are converted to atmospheric nitrogen (N2) by bacteria.

Stage #1: The process where ice directly converts into water vapors without converting into liquid water.
