Why is eating not allowed in classrooms? What's the exception?

Classrooms are not a cafeteria. Trash, crumbs, and spills attract bugs and rodents, and create mold and smells. In science classrooms, there's the additional risk of accidental ingestion of contaminates from labs.

The only exception is that breakfast may be eaten in period 1.

According to the Student Code of Conduct, academic dishonesty can take many forms, including plagiarism and/or cheating.  Plagiarism, using the work or ideas of others, may also include the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) writing programs without proper acknowledgment, giving the false impression of original authorship. Cheating may include forgery, such as faking a signature of a teacher or parent, or copying the work of another person digitally or in person. Furthermore, supplying work to be copied is the facilitation of cheating.

Most school staff with regular child contact (teachers, admins, counselors, coaches, nurses, aides, mental health professionals, social workers, etc.) are mandated reporters. What does that mean?

Mandated reporters are professionals legally required to report reasonable suspicion or knowledge of child abuse (physical, sexual, emotional) or neglect, exposure to domestic violence, illegal drug activity, or parental incapacity.

*In other words, if you say or do something that will harm yourself or others, or falls into one of the above categories, staff members have to do something and cannot keep it between you.
